Masham sheep have been bred for over a century on the hill farms in the Northern Counties of England. They are produced by crossing a Teeswater or Wensleydale ram with a northern hill ewe such as a Dalesbred or Swaledale, both hardy hill breeds.
The Masham ewe is medium sized and hornless, the fleece having a good lustre with staple length of 12 - 25 cm, micron range of 33.5 - 35 and weighing in at 3 - 4.5 kg.
